If I know exactly what I’m going to paint, then it becomes boring and painstaking. If I wanted to depict something from life perfectly, I would either take a photo of it or become an illustrator. It’s the expressiveness and uncertainty that makes me okay with spending my life creating images. Everyone has something that they want to see and I am always blown away with peoples’ ability to be outstanding technical artists. But this is not the path I want to take. The things I want to see only are known to me after I’ve done something completely outside of my intentions. I want to spend the rest of my life experimenting with shapes and discovering what I want to see.
