I don’t know how much figurative work I should really be doing. The idea of having a single subject represent an entire philosophy of ideas feels like too pretentious of an assumption. This started a series that was supposed to dismantle how the absurdities of beauty are so closely tied with our own hypocrisies. I really don’t like this one but it helped me start to realize what I want to paint. I want to talk so much about how art like this would usually anger me and have me believe that the artist has no care for the intellectuals that pushed for a painting to present itself outside of the canvas. I’ll have to rant about that later.
