Superficial Tendencies
Acrylic / Raw Canvas
60” x 30”
Sometimes things happen when I’m painting. I’ve come to realize that working on something tangible allows for me to be more introspective. These paintings I’ve been making are always a culmination of my curiosities and questions I have about my way of thinking. I know that I am ignorant to much of the world and I want to learn. I feel that to be self aware is the most important thing you can possibly do but it might be difficult to ground yourself and understand who you really are. We may think we know ourselves but we might be ignorant to our reality. Nothing that we are, do or say really exists because it’s only other peoples perception of us that exists. I want to make work that reminds me I am human and that I am unknowing. The second I stop learning about myself and others, I will die.
