Usually, when I finish the third piece in a series, I feel like I’ve gone too far. I’ve never felt that so strongly than when I was putting the final strokes on this painting. I think that I should keep going though. This is a set of paintings that I feel will define where I’m at in life. Not to say that any other piece of work isn’t a self reflection however… I’ve always been under the impression that anything anybody creates is just like an existential self portrait after all. I’ve never wanted anything I say or do to be taken as some sort of cryptic, esoteric, pseudo-intellectual hogwash… I hope if people have questions they can just ask them. This painting is about apparitions and whispers. I couldn’t stop thinking about Wooly Bully while painting it.
