Landmarks No. 2
Acrylic / Canvas
54” x 32”
It is really hard to title this series. For now, “landmarks” makes the most sense as the point of these pieces is to show just a hint of representation. I want there to be the immediate understanding of verticality and points of interest that will hopefully lead to some feeling of comfort and liberty. I want to imply a more ethereal presence that is framed by these opaque markings and arrows similar to a forged (or real) picture of an apparition that needs to be circled or pointed out. I’m often asked how I know when I’m finished with a painting and the truth is that I stop once I’ll be sick to my stomach if I add anything else.
