I like to think about how, with any medium, there is the possibility of making something non-descriptive. Intentions that go into a depiction are, in my opinion, help back by the curiosity and imagination that can spawn from something more ambiguous. I’ve spent so much time thinking about these ideas and how that might translate into a representation of idolization and maybe even an entire scene. This is getting closer to how I feel about these subjects but I had to cut myself off. Parts of this project were completely overworked but I continued to learn about what I want to see. It can be difficult to cut myself off before I add too much or over render and area. There is a balance that I feel I have yet to achieve with this. I used to constantly reference artists like Gustave Dore, Francisco Goya and Francis Bacon because they all had a way of creating a scene that stood out to me. It often felt like a flashlight is pointed at their subjects and the rest of these scene is certainly present but ominously fades into obscurity. I hope that I can try to learn something from them.
